Q&A with Dr. Heyler

Dr. Heyler Answers Your Eyecare Questions

I see fine without glasses. Why should I need a routine eye exam?

There are three parts of a routine eye examination. The first part checks the function of your eyes, the second part determines if you are far-sighted or near-sighted and if you need a prescription. The third part of a comprehensive eye examination is to check the health of your eyes. Even if you feel you see fine, an annual eye health check will look for eye diseases or conditions that may lead to problems in the future. For example, Glaucoma is one of the most serious eye diseases which can only be detected during an examination. Glaucoma has no symptoms until significant optic nerve damage causes a loss in side vision. This loss of vision is permanent but can be prevented with early detection and proper treatment. Eyesight is precious. Protect your eyes and your vision with an annual eye examination.
